This course will define the principals of gamification and examine its origins and connections to customer loyalty programs. Students will learn about the influences of human behavioral analysis on the loyalty industry, and learn about market examples that demonstrate the range of options for brands seeking to incorporate gamification elements into their customer marketing programs. Discussion will explore why gamification did not succeed as a standalone loyalty solution but found a home as a blended element within a more well rounded program design. Participants completing this module will have a working knowledge of how to evaluate gamification as an element for their customer marketing efforts and will understand the options available to create gamification functionality through development, licensing, or other means.
