Summary

The foundational course covering the principles of loyalty marketing and the strategic frameworks that create genuine behaviour change.

Why Take This Course

You probably think loyalty is about points and discounts. Most people do. But the loyalty discipline is more than just the programmatic. It should be reflected in your brand and how you interact with your customers at any touchpoint.

Course Preview

We’ll move through three areas throughout this course: Defining Loyalty, Principles of Loyalty Marketing, and Trends in Customer Behavior. In this course, and all of the following courses in the CLMP™ program, there will be a series of short quizzes to help reinforce what you’ve learned. Each quiz is comprised of three questions and you will need answer either two or three of three correctly to continue. If you answer none or only one correctly then you will need to review the material again. You do have the freedom to consume the material at your own pace and take breaks whenever you want. We have set the course topics into a sequential order that gives the most complete experience, since later courses build directly on the definitions and frameworks we established in prior courses. Even though you’re taking this course on demand, we encourage you to treat it as interactive — pause at the questions we pose along the way and think through your own answer before moving on. You’ll get more out of the material that way.

What You’ll Learn

This course will equip you with knowledge in key areas ranging from behavioural psychology to strategic design principles that drive sustainable competitive advantage.

Key Topics

• Behavioural versus emotional loyalty
• Why most programs measure the wrong thing
• How to reframe your strategy for real impact
• Strategic design principles behind sustainable competitive advantage

Featured Framework: Big ‘L’ vs. Little ‘l’

The distinction that divides the industry. Behavioural loyalty is what a customer does. Emotional loyalty is what they would feel if you disappeared. Most programs optimize the first and report it as the second.
